Amps to kVA – Ampere (A) to Kilovolt Amps (kVA) Calculator. Just select phase and enter current and volts values inside the below boxes. That’s it. As a result, you will get the kilovolt-amps as output.
You can find the mechanism, formulas, and calculation behind this calculator below. Just keep reading the article.
Single-Phase Amps to kVA Calculation & Formula
S(kVA) = I(A) x V(v) / 1000
Here,
S = Apparent power in kilovolt-amps(kVA),
I = Current in amps(A),
V = Voltage in volts(v).
So, the definition will be:
The Apparent Power(S) in kilovolt-amps(kVA) is equal to the current(I) in amps(A) into Voltage(V) in volts(v) and divide the whole result with 1000.
Three-Phase Amps to kilovolt-amps Calculation & Formula
Most importantly, there are two types of calculation occur. You can see it below.
Calculation with Line to Line Voltage
S(kVA) = √3 x I(A) x VL-L(v) / 1000
You can see that the formula is very much similar to the Single-Phase calculation. But the difference is just in one case. That is the square root of 3. You will get a clear idea after reading the above formula.
So, the definition will be like this. The Apparent Power(S) in kilovolt-amps(kVA) is equal to the √3 into the current(I) in amps(A) into line to line RMS Voltage(V) in volts(v) and then divide the result with 1000.
Calculation with Line to Neutral Voltage
S(kVA) = 3 x I(A) x VL-L(v) / 1000
In Line to Neutral voltage calculation, we just need to multiply with only 3.
So, the definition will be like this. The Apparent Power(S) in kilovolt-amps(kVA) is equal to the 3 into the current(I) in amps(A) into line to neutral RMS Voltage(V) in volts(v) and divide the final result with 1000.
