The temperature of a body is measured and recorded in Fahrenheit(°F) and Celsius(°C). These are the two most popular temperature units in real life. So, you can Convert Fahrenheit to Celsius using this converter.
Fahrenheit and Celsius are units to measure temperature. Temperature is the intensity of heat. Heat enclosed in a body. We use instruments like Thermometers for measuring temperature. There are different scales for measuring temperature. Namely, Fahrenheit, Celsius, and Kelvin.
(°F) vs (°C) vs (K)
°F and °C are using in daily life. On the other hand, the Kelvin scale is dominant using in the sector of Thermodynamics. In your higher science classes, you have seen that temperatures are written in “K”. K symbolizes Kelvin. In Thermodynamics, Kelvin is the preferable unit most of the time. Weather forecasting and temperature in your oven are in °C or °F. Most importantly, we measure temperature in Fahrenheit and Celsius in our routine life.
A person can be comfortable in °F or °C. Depending upon your convenience. Choose whether to go for Fahrenheit or Celsius. Using our converter, you can easily convert F to C.
In the Celsius scale, water freezes at 0 degrees. Similarly, in the Fahrenheit scale, water freezes at 32 degrees. In the same vein, on the Celsius scale, at 100 degrees temperature water boils. Likewise, on the Fahrenheit scale, at 212 degrees water boils. Note that here the physical conditions are constant. Like pressure (atmospheric).
A different scale for thermodynamics was introduced. Because it is suitable for recording very low to very high temperatures. 0 degree Celsius is equal to 273.15 K. 0 degree Fahrenheit is equal to 255.372 K.
Temperature Measuring Instruments
Some examples of instruments we use for measuring temperature:
- Thermometer
- Thermocouple
- Pyrometer
- Thermistors
- Infrared Sensors
- Silicon Diode
Thermometers use Mercury (Hg) in them. Mercury expands constantly at different temperatures. Therefore, the change in temperature rises the Mercury level. Thermometers are not suitable for measuring very high and low temperatures. Hence, other devices are used that have range very much than that of Mercury. The reading in °F can be converted to °C with our Fahrenheit to Celsius converter.
How to Convert Fahrenheit to Celsius?
As you know °F and °C are two different units for measuring the same thing. Therefore, one form can be turned into another. Hence, let’s see how Fahrenheit to Celsius conversion takes place.
Fahrenheit to Celsius Formula
The relationship between °F and °C:
0 °F = -17.777777778 °C
Let °F and °C be Fahrenheit and Celsius temperature respectively. Then the equation will be:
°C = (°C-32) x 5/9
It can also be written as,
°C = (°F-32) / (9/5) OR °C = (°F-32) / 1.8
So, just put the value of °F inside the formula. Then solve the equation. This is how you turn Fahrenheit to Celsius. Now, look at some examples. For better understanding.
Example 1:
Convert 20 °F to °C.
Here, the Fahrenheit value is 20 °F.
As we know,
°C = (°F-32) x 5/9
Putting °F = 20 in the above equation, we get
°C = (20-32) x 5/9
Hence, 20 °F = -6.6666 °C.
Example 2:
Convert 2653 degrees F to °C.
Here, the °F value is 2653 °F.
So, we know that,
°C = (°F-32) x 5/9
Putting F = 2653 in the above equation, we get
°C = (2653-32) x 5/9
Hence, 2653 °F = 1456.111 °C.
Example 3:
Convert -35 °F to Celsius.
The Fahrenheit temperature value is -35 °F.
Placing °F = -35 in the above equation, we get
Celsius = (-35-32) x 5/9
So, -35 °F = -37.222 Celsius.
Advantages of Fahrenheit to Celsius Converter
- The Fahrenheit into Celsius converter never gives wrong results. Even more, the conversion process takes place in an algorithm. Also, every input goes through the same process. No human brain is involved during the calculation to make it 100% accurate.
- The converter gives the result within seconds. Whereas if you go for manual calculations. Then it will take much more time. Hence, the converter saves time as well as effort.
